What is Fauvism?

Fauvism ended up being an early on 20th-century style of French painting, noted for its bold use of luminous, pure tints. This strength of color was useful for mental and ornamental impact, but also to control room and amount. As a movement, Fauvism appeared in 1905 when a small grouping of colourist painters led by Matisse exhibited within in Paris. Dubbed "Fauves" (French for wild beasts) because of the going to art critic Louis Vauxcelles, the team had been supported by a number of art dealers - like Ambroise Vollard, Berthe Weill and soon after Paul Rosenberg (1881-1959) - but greatly criticised by critics as well as the general public have been surprised by such hostile using colour, and found it difficult to deal with these garish paintings seriously.
