A well known West Country artist Lewis Mortimer did some of his finest work on and around Dartmoor in Devon, this example is inscribed on the reverse "Postbridge, Dartmoor".
It depicts a windy overcast day, note the feeling of movement in the trees. His paintings have a similarity in style and colour to W.H. Sweet. Signed lower left.
